In collaboration
with the Salon des Arts Décoratifs 2010, our Guild sponsored
a paint-in of Treasure Boxes for children at the Montreal Shriners
Hospital.
We have been creating
Treasure Boxes since 2006 and this is our second year having a
'Paint-In' at the Salon. Donna McGee headed up the project this
year. She and her team manned a booth October 15 to 17, explaining
who we were and what we were doing. Visitors were encouraged to
stop off at our booth and help in the painting of a Treasure Box.
No experience was needed and everything was supplied.

Donna reported
that she has 38 treasure boxes for the Montreal Shriners Hospital.
Eight were donated by a club in Gatineau, and people who attended
last year brought boxes that they had painted at home, to donate.
The rest were painted at the Salon. Some
of the Treasure Boxes are pictured below.

After our November
meeting, Guild members varnished the boxes to protect the painted
designs.
|
Our
project will continue, as we watch the construction of the new
bigger Shriners Hospital for Children here in Montreal. The children's
smiles make it all worthwhile!
