XMAS
AT THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
|
For many years now,
the Museum's Volunteer Association has hosted an exhibition of
Christmas trees decorated by local associations and cultural groups
in the Montreal area. Each year, we participate in this special,
magical event which draws young and old each December. The ornaments
for our tree are hand-painted by our Guild members, especially
for this yearly event. Johann Law and her team decorated this
year's tree for all to enjoy. Please click here
to see ornaments from this and past years.

LINDA
LOCK'S PAINTING SEMINAR
|
Linda Lock conducted
a two-day seminar with us on April 21 and 22, 2012. It was a challenging
two days learning the finer points of painting two large and intricate
projects with Linda. From how to paint authentique brick and stonework
to mastering the delicate shading of spring flowers, we covered
it all. Please click here
to see a slideshow
of the two-day painting experience.

Our Guild meets once
a month from September to June, at which time we conduct the business
of the association or paint together. Usually, one of the
members leads us through a project she has selected.
The annual General
Meeting is held in December, followed by lunch and an optional
exchange of Christmas ornaments. The Executive Committee
is elected annually at this meeting and it serves a one-year term.
Our June meeting is also a social lunch event.
All members receive
our informative bi-monthly newsletter which includes important
information and tips, updated membership lists and other pertinent
information. Two or three times a year, we invite guest
teachers to come to Montreal for 2 to 4 day seminars. Each
member also has the privilege of borrowing books from our extensive
library.
The guild is organized
and run entirely by volunteers. Working together is not
only rewarding but a fun and easy way to become acquainted with
fellow decorative painters.
